Freud, Incest, Murder, and Oedipus Rex (the King)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   A Freudian analysis of Sophocles' Oedipus Rex (the King) would show that Oedipus truly contained an incestuous nature. This was revealed not only by Oedipus' marriage to his own mother, by whom he had children, but also by his irrational preference for his daughters, Antigone and Ismene. While the attention he showered to his daughters was profound and sexually tinged, he dismissed his sons as creatures able to take care of themselves. Although he was unconsciously attracted to his daughters, he also feared that his daughters will become social outcasts and will be unable to marry.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   When Freud in his Interpretation of Dreams made his now famous observations about Oedipus the King, he naturally focused on the main issue: that Oedipus killed his father and married his mother.(1) A further Freudian analysis of the play reveals another issue that came to dominate psychoanalysis: the preference of Oedipus for his daughters. My duty as a childminder is to provide high quality care for children and young people. To have a sound knowledge of first aid and safeguarding procedures and to ensure training is kept up to date. Common Core The common core provides me with skills and knowledge required in order to work with children, young people and families. In my role as a childminder this would be: Successful Parent partnerships & communication with children, including support for those whose primary language may not be English. Sound knowledge of the EYO and how these are used to observe development in children. Aware of safeguarding procedures and children’s welfare. Supporting children and parents through transition periods i.e. starting school. Being aware of data protection and how to protect confidentiality except in the case of safeguarding. In my job role as a childminder this would be: To remain professional at all times and ensure relevant paperwork is kept up to date. To promote children learning & development. Psychologists from the district of Hilo, Hawaii completed questionnaire and survey concerning the behaviors and acts that lead practitioners to engage in dual roles with client. Measures included demographic questionnaire and the Therapeutic Practices Survey. The participants rated the degree or level to which each behavior or act was ethical. A majority believed dual role behaviors to be unethical under most conditions and some reported that they have rarely or never engage in such behaviors. The profession and practice setting did not vary among terms of involvements, which includes incidental, social/financial, and dual roles. A review of previous studies and literature assisted in revealing the nature of relationships, ethical guidelines provided, and limits of boundaries for relationships.
